Design

The Yukon and Yukon XL were redesigned for families in mind. It was also made to be leaner in profile, while maintaining excellent access inside for a comfortable space to drive in. It is also bolder up front, to make sure that a GMC is coming, even it is to pick up the kids from school.

Visibility is improved with more glass area and leaner pillars for more vision outwards. Improved lighting enables night driving to be easier on the eyes. Larger side mirrors also help in ensuring better vision behind the driver.

The new Yukon is built on an integrated structure that combines a frame of high strength steel with an integrated body structure on top of it. It is now built to further reduce noise and vibration. Front coil-over shocks and a strong rear set-up keeps the Yukon going through everything goes through. Available four-corner air ride adaptive suspension smooths out the ride and balances additional loads, such as towing. 

Interior


 

The best way to describe the interior of a Yukon is premium. In a newly redesigned cockpit-like atmosphere, the driver has an easy sight to all of the main gauges, along with a Driver Information Center and the new 15-inch head-up display are both customizable for any other readouts a driver needs for their Yukon.

Seats are big and comfortable, just as expected in a Yukon. This is not just for the front seats - but for all three rows of seating. Third row seats have better access than before with a wider rear door and easier second-row slide function. Not to mention with triple-sealed doors and absorbent glass, it is now the quietest Yukon ever made. The new generation GMC Infotainment System serves as a hub for entertaining everyone on board, including Bluetooth connectivity, wireless phone charging, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a rear seat DVD/Blu-Ray entertainment system.

 

In terms of space, the GMC Yukon starts with 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row of seats. This expandable to 122.9 cubic feet with both the second- and third-row seats down. Third row leg room has been improved in the Yukon with 34.9 inches available for adults to sit the extreme rear of the SUV.

 

IIf you need more space for your family, the Yukon XL offers 41.5 cubic feet of space behind the third row of seats. Those same row of seats also offer an adult-sized leg room of 36.7 inches.

Safety

For further assistance, a Yukon could be equipped with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert, Front Collision Alert, Safety Seat Alert and Front and Rear Park Assist, Side Blind Zone Alert, a rearview camera and rear cross-traffic alert - all designed to ensure optimal safety for everyone on board the Yukon.

Plus, every Yukon comes with the peace of mind of OnStar. Available 24 hours a day, OnStar is there to assist in case of an accident of theft of the Yukon, along with providing directions to the next destination. In addition, OnStar now offers a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot to stay connected on the road with as many as seven devices in and around the Yukon. 

Performance




Both the Yukon and Yukon XL offers a choice of two V8 engines. The standard 5.3-liter V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management offers 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of pure torque. Available a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Also available is the efficient 3.0-liter Duramax Diesel engine with 460 pound-feet of torque and a maximum fuel range of up to 756 miles in the Yukon XL. All three engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with a choice of rear- or four-wheel-drive.

There are four trim levels are available in the Yukon and Yukon XL: SLE, SLT, AT4, and the Denali.
