Yukon AT4 Ultimate Brings Luxury and Off-Roading Together

June 1st, 2025 by

In recent years, the Yukon has branched into two different directions as you move up the model line. One branch leads you to the AT4, which offers increased off-road capability. The other branch directed you to the Denali, representing the highest level of luxury across all GMC models. For 2025, both branches reunite in the form of the AT4 Ultimate. Ewing GMC provides the details.

The Yukon AT4 Ultimate starts out with the same changes found elsewhere in the model line. The face has been enhanced with new lighting treatments and grill textures that are unique to each trim level. Bigger changes lie inside with a new dashboard featuring a 16.8-inch vertically formatted center touchscreen backed by the Google Built-in operating system. This system delivers fast response on-board Google Maps and Google Assistant, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

In front of the wheel, the soft dash makes way for the 8.0-inch configurable digital driver’s display. The transmission selector has been moved up to become a steering column stalk, reminiscent of when almost all transmission controls were in that location. Everything old is new again. This time around, the control is electronic, requiring just a twist this way or that instead of a whole arm movement. The relocation frees up space in the center console for the wireless phone charger and other storage areas.

In addition to the expected heated and cooled functions, the AT4 Ultimate’s soft leather seats also feature a massaging option. Additionally, an 8.0-inch touchscreen is positioned behind the center console, allowing second-row passengers to configure their preferred climate control settings. Ultimate models also include entertainment screens for those passengers.

The AT4 Ultimate Bose® sound system features 18 speakers, including a stainless-steel headrest speaker arrangement for the front seats. Also standard is a 15.0-inch color head-up display. The seats and other interior surfaces showcase attractive red contrast stitching. Additionally, it includes three years of the Super Cruise hands-free driving system, along with Wi-Fi and OnStar vehicle apps for the same period.

On the off-road side of things, the model picks up the AT4’s sophisticated, automatically adjusting magnetic dampers and swaps the already-good coil springs for air spring suspension. In addition to offering a buttery ride and lower ride height on the highway, the air suspension can raise the ride height when the pavement ends. At that point, you can take advantage of the AT4 Ultimate’s electronic limited-slip differential (LSD) and off-road drive mode, which lengthens throttle response and remaps both the LSD and traction control to help keep the Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT tires digging in when needed.

All Yukon models will carry three rows of passengers in comfort along with a fair amount of cargo. Even in AT4 form, its size may prevent it from traversing the Rubicon Trail, but it will certainly get you to the remote weekend cabin at any time of the year.

While the 5.3-liter V8 is standard on the AT4, the AT4 Ultimate upgrades to the 6.2-liter V8 with its 420 horsepower (@5,600 rpm) and 460 lb-ft of torque (@4,100 rpm). There is no waiting for a turbo to spool up; just enjoy the smooth, linear, and robust power. That power is harnessed by the 10-speed automatic present on all Yukon models. Like the AT4, all models have four-wheel drive. EPA-estimated fuel economy is rated at 14 mpg (city), 18 (highway), and 16 (combined). An available option is the 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel with 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque, which is the highest torque rating for any of the Yukon engines. EPA-estimated fuel economy for this engine is 20/26/22 mpg, respectively.

There is a cost involved in adding both off-road and luxury items, bringing the Yukon AT4 Ultimate’s starting MSRP to $96,495, and rising to $99,495 if you want the extra 15 inches of passenger and cargo space offered by the Yukon XL version. Options can push either model over the $100K milestone. However, it is the Yukon that gives you the best of all worlds. If your tastes lean more towards either the off-road or luxury direction, the AT4 or Denali are less expensive alternatives. Fortunately, with Ewing GMC’s vast inventory, you can sample them all to find the one that works best for you.
