Performance
A complete redesign of the interior and exterior also includes a new engine to replace the V6 in the previous Enclave. All models feature a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This represents an increase of 18 horsepower and 60 lb-ft of torque.
Three trim levels are available: Preferred, Sport Touring, and Avenir. Each model comes standard with front-wheel drive, and all can be optioned with all-wheel drive.
While official EPA mileage is not yet available, Buick estimates that an Enclave equipped with front-wheel drive will get 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, respectively, with all-wheel drive models getting 19 city and 24 highway.
Avenir models come with Continuous Damping Control (CDC), which gives the Enclave a truly refined and upscale ride and gives drivers even more control for added safety and performance. The system can change the damping control of each wheel individually.
As mentioned in the Overview, the Enclave can tow up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped, which gives owners the freedom to pack their family and still tow a boat, jet ski, or even a small camper.
Exterior
This latest generation of Buick brings the company’s latest PURE design philosophy to the Enclave, giving the SUV a more streamlined design. The Enclave also gets the updated Buick logos found on all models.
The low, wide front grille gives the Enclave a distinctive new face, with different styles for each trim level. Preferred and Avenir have a silver grille, while the Sport Touring has a one-off black grille. LED headlights and daytime running lights are standard on all models. Sliding around to the rear of the vehicle, you’ll find unique LED taillights with a full-length light bar connecting both lights.
The base model Preferred and mid-level trim Sport Touring both come standard with 20-inch wheels, while the top-of-the-line Avenir trim features 22-inch wheels.
Interior
The latest design of the interior is highlighted by the floating center console that features a wireless charger, two cupholders, and a large volume knob for the radio. Underneath, there is tons of open storage for handbags and extra-large water bottles that don’t fit in the cupholders, among other things. The Enclave features standard captain’s chairs with optional one-touch folding and sliding for easier access to the third row.
Something Buick has proven to do better than most is create an interior that leaves the harsh noises and annoyances of the outside world on the outside with QuietTuning technology that features Active Noise Cancellation.
Buick has not yet released full specs regarding interior size and dimensions; however, they have said the maximum cargo capacity is 97.5 cu.ft. with the second and third rows folded.
All trim levels offer drivers an 8-way power adjustable driver seat and a 6-way power adjustable passenger seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and ambient lighting. Buyers can also choose ventilated seats, heated rear outboard seats, and more.
Technology
All Enclave models include brilliant technology that makes the lives of drivers and passengers alike easier and more comfortable, such as Google Built-In with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Head-Up Display, a wireless charger, HD Surround Vision, and more. HD Surround Vision has seven standard camera views and two extra optional views, for a total of nine views.
For the first time ever in a Buick, Super Cruise is available. This gives buyers the ultimate hands-free driver aid that can be used in traffic, long or short highway drives, and more. Owners love that more than 750,000 miles of road have been mapped between the U.S. and Canada.
An innovative new option called Heated Wiper Park uses a defroster at the base of the windshield to keep the wipers heated so they don’t stick to the windshield during freezing and snowy situations.
Safety
No matter which Enclave you buy, all trim levels feature excellent standard safety features that include Blind Zone Steering Assist, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian, Bicyclist Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, IntelliBeam Auto High Beams, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Safety Alert Seat, Reverse Automatic Braking, Rear Seat Reminder, HD Surround Vision, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Side Bicyclist Alert, Intersection Automatic, Emergency Braking, Rear Pedestrian Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition, Buckle to Drive, and Rear Park Assist.
All models, through OnStar, have Automatic Crash Response, which will contact emergency services for you in the event of an accident.
Enclave customers can further option a Rear Camera Mirror and Enhanced Automatic Park Assist.
