2025 Yukon Change Includes More Powerful Duramax Diesel Across Entire Lineup

It may not be a complete redesign, but there is a lot that is new about the 2025 Yukon. Most obviously, there is the all-new front-end styling with a new grille and headlight treatment, all within the parentheses of the DRLs. The interior is also all-new, and there is a new AT4 Ultimate model because the existing AT4 had further to go for some people. However, one of the big unseen changes recounted here by Ewing Buick-GMC is the upgraded Duramax diesel engine.

The new Duramax comes with a bonus. The 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax turbodiesel is rated at 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. That is 28 more ponies and 35 more pounds in each boot than the previous engine, and the torque peak arrives at under 2,000 rpm. The engine features a cast aluminum head and block and high-pressure common-rail injection. It is paired with the same 10-speed automatic transmission as the gas engines and will be available on all Yukon trims for the first time, including AT4 and the all-new AT4 Ultimate. The EPA has posted no fuel economy figures for the Yukon with this engine yet. The previous engine was rated at 21 city/27 highway and 23 combined, about six mpg better than the most frugal gas V8 on all levels.

In rear-wheel-drive form, the Yukon with this engine can tow up to 8,400 pounds. The four-wheel-drive system, complete with a two-speed transfer case, drops this to 8,200 pounds. The Duramax is a great choice for anyone who wants to use his or her Yukon to tow and/or regularly cover long distances.

The 2025 Yukon has other enticements. Boldly prominent in the redesigned dash is a vertical-format 16.8-inch diagonal Premium GMC Information Center. The system allows the driver to customize the integration of maps, audio inputs, vehicle diagnostics, and more into the display. Rear passengers are not left out with their own 8.0-inch touchscreen display for the rear climate control system.
The new AT4 Ultimate trim level picks up from the off-road-focused AT4 to add:
- 20-inch wheels
- All-terrain tires
- Front skid plate
- Four-corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension that can raise the vehicle up to two inches
- Luxurious Obsidian Rush interior with full-grain leather seating and Ash Burl wood accents
- New unique leather seat style, featuring open pore wood décor and leather rim steering wheel accents
For the first time, the Denali Ultimate offers decidedly urban-focused 24-inch machined wheels with laser etching. The front seats are upgraded to feature 16 power adjustments with a massage function, and the second-row Executive Seating features luxury captain’s chairs. There is also a new 22-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system with speakers in the front and second-row headrests.

There is plenty more news about the new Yukon that is worth seeing, and you can do that at Ewing Buick-GMC, where we will soon have the new 2025 Yukon in stock.
