Buick Enclave vs Genesis GV80

The 2024 Buick Enclave is a bargain compared to its competition, especially when you consider its towing capacity, overall interior volume, and fuel economy. Buick has a genuine winner on its hands with the all-new Enclave. When put up against popular SUVs like the Genesis GV80, which are more expensive with less size, the Big Buick shows what makes it so great for middle-class families. 

Fuel Economy, Engine, Towing, & Cost 

For 2024, Enclave offers comfortable seating for up to 7 passengers and can get up to 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. With its standard 3.6-liter V6 producing 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, it can tow as much as 5,000 lbs when properly equipped. This is all for the base MSRP of just $45,295. While front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional.

Interior Volume Comparison

The Genesis GV80 also offers seating for up to 7 passengers, but the third row is not meant for adults like the Buick. Passengers in the last row only get 30.3 inches of legroom, 34.3 inches of headroom, and 53.2 inches of shoulder room. The Enclave, however, gives passengers 3.2 inches of extra legroom, 3.3 extra inches of headroom, and 4.7 inches more for your shoulders. Behind the third row of the Buick, owners will have 23.6 cu.ft. of cargo space. Folding the third row down opens that up to 57.7 cu.ft., and finally, with all rows folded behind the driver and front passenger, customers will have a total of 97.4 cu.ft. of space. The GV80 only has 11.6 cu.ft. behind the rear seats, 36.5 cu.ft. with the third row folded and 71.7 cu.ft. with all rear rows folded down. 

Affordability and Range

For 2024, the GV80 has a base price of $59,050, or nearly $14,000 more than the Buick Enclave. It’s hard to justify spending more money on an SUV when it has less overall size and no real advantages. Sure, the GV80 gets 20 mpg in the city, which is two extra mpg than the Buick. However, the Buick gets two extra mpg on the highway. Since the Enclave has a 22-gallon fuel tank and the Genesis has a 21.1-gallon tank, this means, with pure highway travel, the Buick can go as far as 572 miles before needing to fill up versus the GV80’s 506 miles. 

Safety Is The Number 1 Goal

For the 2024 model year, all Enclave models feature Buick Driver Confidence as standard, which includes Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, and IntelliBeam auto high beams. Select models can choose the Advanced Technology Package. This package includes Navigation radio, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Park Assist, HD Surround Vision, and Head-Up Display.

Better Standard Technology

When it comes to technology, Buick has the Genesis clipped by offering standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; in the GV80, it is a wired-only connection. The Enclave also features a magically quiet interior with QuietTuning. This feature gives the Buick a laminated acoustic windshield, extra sound deadening, and active noise canceling to keep the interior as quiet from the outside world as possible.
