Buick Shows Off Beautiful Wildcat EV Concept

The Buick Wildcat EV concept conveys the all-new design language that will influence Buick production models for the foreseeable future as the brand transitions to an all-electric future.

Most people know Buick because of its historic luxury. Buick is actually a company known for gorgeous and even some first-ever designs. They are the first car company to feature portholes, or as they called them, “Ventiports,” to signify the number of cylinders a car had. If you saw three or four on either side of the fender, then you could rightly know which 8-cylinder engine was under the hood of said Buick.

Concepts To Die For

One more thing that Buick is known for is their drop-dead-gorgeous and to-die-for concept cars. From the 1938 Buick Y-Job that still takes everyone’s breath away to this day, the 2004 Buick Velite, all the way to the current Wildcat EV that wows just as much as it inspires with its beauty.

A Preview of the Future

As its name suggests, the Wildcat EV is an all-electric vehicle concept, but it’s not meant to be a specific car itself. Instead, it is a sneak peek of sorts for Buick’s future design elements and electric values as a motoring company. There was a Buick Wildcat car from 1963-’70, just like the original Buick Wildcat concepts of 1953, ‘54, ‘55, and the latter concept in 1985. None of those cars made it into production, except for various design elements.

A Word From Buick

A spokesperson for Buick told Autoblog.com, “The Wildcat EV concept is still our blueprint for Buick design and you’ll see Wildcat inspiration throughout our lineup, starting with the current Encore GX and Envista, and it will eventually extend to the 24MY Envision and 25MY Enclave. We still don’t have any plans to bring that vehicle into production, it’s strictly a concept.”

A Beautiful Future

The sound directly after that quote was made was the sound of millions of hearts breaking worldwide. While we may never actually see the Buick Wildcat EV driving around town, we will at least be able to see some of its beauty rolling around in every new Buick over the coming decades. The world is changing, and gone are the days of inline-8s and V8s with Ventiports that made Buick the company that it is today. However, there is plenty of hope because while the future Buick motors will be hybrids and electric, the beauty of a Buick will always be what draws the attention as it drives by. And that is what a Buick always has been: something beautiful and unique that you couldn’t look away from.
