EVs are on the Rise in Texas

California gets a lot of attention as the center of the EV world in the United States, but Texas is one of the fastest-growing markets for electric vehicles in the country. That suggests that Texans are signing onto the zero-emissions lifestyle in droves, but it also indicates that the state is working to rapidly build up EV infrastructure to support them. That includes chargers, so let’s take a look at the locations available in the Metroplex. 

How Many Chargers Are There?

PlugShare counts 2,469 chargers in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area as of October 2023. The chargers are centered in the more heavily populated portions of the region, though there are quite a few scattered in the surrounding suburbs. That number includes 34 Tesla Superchargers, 38 Electrify America chargers, 71 EVGo chargers, and many at private businesses, such as gas stations, hotels, and other locations. There is a range of charging speeds available, including many DC fast chargers that can have you back on the road in almost no time.

Interestingly, the region offers 250 free chargers, and there are 95 located at grocery stores. More than 200 hotels in the area have signed on with chargers, and nearly 100 chargers are located at public parks, so you can get your fresh air fix while waiting for your vehicle to recover range.

Buick EVs

Buick has released a new electric vehicle for the Chinese market, but the automaker has not set a solid timeline for EVs in the United States. It has confirmed the Wildcat, which was shown in concept form in 2022. We expect the first Buick EV in 2023, and the company will shift to an all-electric lineup by the end of the decade.
