Detroit News Finds 2026 GMC Acadia Denali Elevates Three-Row Stealth Luxury

Most luxury goods serve two purposes: offering extra comfort and satisfaction for the user and showcasing success and purchasing power to others. For those seeking elevated luxury in a truck or SUV, GMC introduced the Denali series. The Detroit News recognized this effort well in the Acadia Denali Ultimate 3-row crossover SUV. Ewing Buick GMC shares what they found.
They apply the term “stealth luxury” to the Denali model. To most people, especially those unfamiliar with the Denali name, the Acadia Denali Ultimate appears as a stylish, well-finished version of a standard three-row SUV. It won’t shout “wealth” or “ostentation” like a luxury brand such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, or Lexus. For those who prefer not to have that as their first impression wherever they go, this can be a real advantage. It seems many share that preference. 30% of GMC model sales are Denali models, rising to 60% for vehicles like the full-size Yukon.
While the Acadia Denali may not scream luxury at first glance, a closer look at the exterior reveals it to be quite distinctive. It might be the “Vader chrome” trim or the dark-finished 22-inch wheels. As the Detroit News states: “Every inch looks premium, yet restrained.”
The entire stealth aspect disappears once you invite someone inside. As the paper describes it, “Designers specified wide-stitched Woodland Mahogany leather seats with embossed topographical maps on their backs. Layers of stitched dash materials, real walnut veneers, and unique floor mats should be relished. Slide under the dual-panel sunroof, crank up the 16-speaker Bose audio system, and caress the sueded headliner. Don’t forget to select heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats.”

The impression deepens when one takes in the technology, such as the 15-inch center touchscreen proudly positioned before the elegantly designed dash, which also features the 11-inch digital driver information display. Above the dash on the driver’s side is a head-up display showing several key information points, including navigation instructions. Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connects to the screen wirelessly, and the phone can be charged wirelessly as well.
Second-row occupants enjoy captains’ chairs, a fancy name for seats just like the front buckets, complete with heating. The seats both slide and tilt to provide access to the third row, which offers 32.14 inches of legroom, and enough width for three passengers, if needed.
All Acadia models are powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 that delivers 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, which is ample for the vehicle’s weight. However, the Detroit News author mentioned missing the V8 sound that used to accompany engines with that level of power. Such a V8 is unlikely to reach the 20 city/23 highway mpg rating of the Denali Ultimate.

Of course, it must be noted that the Denali Ultimate includes the GM SuperCruise system, a true hands-free system that functions smoothly on all interstates and most major highways.
“Even stealth luxury comes at a price,” the author reminds us, and indeed, compared to the entry Acadia’s MSRP of $43,800, their Acadia Denali Ultimate tester had an MSRP of $67,890. Significantly more, but not out of line compared to similar luxury-brand three-row SUVs like the aforementioned Lexus TX350 or competing models from Acura, Volvo, or German brands.
If the Denali’s price is still a bit dear, there are plenty of Acadia models filling that mid-40s to upper 60s price range, so one is bound to fill your needs, desires, and budget. Check them out in the vast Ewing Buick-GMC of Plano inventory.
