The 2024 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate

GMC built a name for itself with plush SUVs and trucks that offer strong capability to go with their uptown sensibilities. As one of the brand’s flagship SUVs, the Yukon has long offered a luxe ownership experience, and GMC recently gave it a new top-shelf trim that ups the premium experience to new levels. It gets the best GMC has to offer for interior finishes, technology, safety, and capability. 

Though it’s often spoken about as a standalone model, the Yukon Denali Ultimate is positioned as an upgrade to the existing Denali trim in the GMC lineup. It offers unique exterior styling elements, available high-end leather, and can be outfitted with GM’s excellent Super Cruise technology. 

Yukon Denali Ultimate Exterior Design

GMC created the Denali Ultimate without covering it in garish badges and loud graphics that shout luxury or expensive vehicle purchases. That it flies under the radar is perhaps the Denali Ultimate’s biggest party trick, as the only giveaways are the dark chrome exterior trim and unique 22-inch wheels. Buyers can upgrade the SUV’s exterior with an illuminated GMC emblem on the grille and illuminated side mirrors.  

It might not be the most shouty luxury SUV, but the Denali Ultimate brings considerable curb presence, and it looks like the almost six-figure family hauler that it is. The large upright grille stands tall and looks great with the dark chrome finish, and GMC’s tasteful LED daytime running lights frame the front fascia.

Yukon Denali Ultimate Interior Design

The Denali Ultimate is as close to a Cadillac as you can get without having the Caddy badge on the hood. GMC equips full-grain leather across all three rows, and the front seatbacks have laser etching of a topographical map. Elsewhere, the SUV gets wood trim and metal accents that appear almost as jewelry in the opulent cabin. The front seats have 16-way power adjustment, and they offer heating, ventilation, and massage. 

On top of the high-end interior, there’s plenty of passenger and cargo space. The Yukon is a full-size SUV, offering great headroom and legroom in the first two rows and a usable third-row seat. Second-row passengers get captain’s chairs with great support and padding, and there’s a generous amount of room for gear, even with all seats upright.

Yukon Denali Ultimate Technology

GMC went over the top with tech in the Denali Ultimate. It comes standard with a 10.2-inch touchscreen running Google built-in, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are on board by default. An 18-speaker Bose stereo is also standard, along with Bluetooth, SiriusXM, HD radio, navigation, and more. GMC also equips a dual 12.6-inch touchscreen system for rear passengers, which works with Bluetooth headphones for gaming and streaming media. 

GMC’s infotainment software is responsive and easy to use. Google’s built-in services bring maps, voice assistance, and other features to the system, adding a great deal of functionality and a responsive interface. 

Yukon Denali Ultimate Safety Tech

GMC equips a load of safety tech in the base Yukon, and the top Denali trims build on that with advanced features not found elsewhere in the lineup. Standard tech includes automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, forward collision warnings, automatic high beams, rear parking assist, front pedestrian braking, and more. The last Yukon to receive complete crash tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety was the 2020 model, so we’ll have to wait for scores in 2024.
