GMC has unveiled the redesigned 2025 Terrain to the public, which shows how busy it has been in producing a model with more space, new technology, and more safety features. Ewing GMC gives you everything we know about the new Terrain compact crossover.

Refined Exterior

GMC’s famed truck line is immediately apparent in the new Terrain’s styling, which looks like a logical extension of the GMC brand. For instance, the grille is now a large rectangle, and the roofline features a more robust, body-color C-Pillar. There is a smoother flow to the rise of the beltline in the transition from the rear door to the rear quarter. The roof treatment accommodates a two-tone paint option, which is a first for the nameplate, with a choice of either black or gray roof color.

“The 2025 GMC Terrain builds on GMC’s strengths and offers our latest premium technology and safety features, while bringing a fresh, bold design to our two-row SUV,” said Duncan Aldred, Global Vice President, Buick and GMC. “With the next-gen Terrain and updated 2025 Yukon both slated to launch later this year, the entire GMC SUV lineup will be refreshed by year-end, giving customers the latest design, the best technology, and the best driving experience we’ve ever offered in our SUVs.”

New Tech

The upgrade in technology is immediately as you enter the cabin. A large 15-inch diagonal center infotainment screen is standard on all models, as is an 11-inch configurable digital driver information display. The center display can show up to three applications simultaneously, enabling you to view your current music selection without removing the navigation screen, along with weather or other useful information. Using the touchscreen or the standard Google Assistant voice system, drivers can reply to text messages, get directions through the onboard Google Maps, or control select vehicle functions. Drivers can also add apps like Spotify to listen to their music and favorite podcasts.

Available is a camera system with eight different views, including a digital rearview option that can display the view behind the vehicle without concern of being obstructed by tall cargo or a passenger in the center of the rear seat. There are additional technologies, including:

  • 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability
  • Dual wireless phone chargers
  • HD Surround Vision camera
  • Rain sensing wipers
  • Heated wiper park
  • AutoSense power liftgate, which automatically opens the liftgate in the presence of the key fob

A 1.5-liter engine powers the Terrain’s turbocharged inline-4, which produces 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Terrain is rated at 1,500 pounds of towing capacity.

Model Availability

In contrast to the trend that often has the most expensive models available first, the first 2025 Terrain available will be the affordable Elevation model, which is expected to debut with standard AWD in late 2024. The AT4 and Denali will follow in early 2025 as 2026 models, respectively. The AT4 will continue as the most off-road-capable model and include:

  • Selectable AT4-exclusive Terrain Mode
  • Lifted ride height
  • Metal underbody protection shield
  • Animated headlamps and taillamps
  • Red front recovery hooks
  • 17-inch All-Terrain tires
  • AWD and Hill Descent Control

Naturally, the Denali will be the luxury trim level with upgraded craftsmanship and luxury features, including:

  • Outboard front and rear heated seats
  • Animated headlamps and taillamps
  • 19-inch wheels (20-inch wheels available)
  • Unique Smart Frequency Dampers for improved ride comfort
  • AWD and Hill Descent Control
