GMC HUMMER EV NAMED SEMIFINALIST FOR NACTOY
The GMC HUMMER EV supertruck and SUV have been earning lots of praise lately. The edge on technology – ranging from its Ultium power system and the ultimate in off-road maneuverability, the Crabwalk – has given the electrified vehicle world a shock in their system
For 2022, the GMC HUMMER EV has just been named to the semifinalist list by the panel of jurors for the North American Truck of the Year award.
To explain how this award works, the North American Truck of The Year awards are not decided by a single publication. They are evaluated throughout the year by 50 respected jurors from print, online, radio and broadcast media across the U.S. and Canada. Those jurors vote three times during the year to reduce the list of eligible vehicles down to semifinalists, finalists and, finally, winners.
Aside from the Ultium drive system and the Crabwalk, the GMC HUMMER EV hosts a variety of new technologies and benchmarks never seen on a vehicle of its kind. Consider that the HUMMER EV has 1,000 horsepower on tap for the pickup and an available 11,500 pound-feet of torque – which is a ton of power to handle anything in its wake. This system is good for a range of over 350 miles on a full battery pack.
To make off-roading easier, Extract Mode can raise the HUMMER EV approximately six inches for greater clearance of obstacles. You can also get your HUMMER EV with Ultravision which includes underbody cameras for a better view of what’s coming ahead on the trail.
The next step in the process is an annual comparison drive, where jurors will evaluate the semifinalist vehicles before voting to select the three finalists in each group. The finalists will be announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17, and winners will be announced in January 2022 during an event in Detroit.
