Every year, U.S. News & World Report puts out its annual list of the “Best Cars for Families,” and this year, GMC won big with two vehicles winning in their categories and another as a finalist.  

Perfect Family Vehicles 

The 2026 GMC Acadia took home the gold in the Best Three-Row Midsize SUV for Families category, while the 2026 Yukon XL won for Best Large SUV for Families. The 2026 Sierra 1500 was a finalist in the Best Full-Size Pickup Truck for Families bracket.  

The Best Around 

Both the Acadia and Yukon were treated to all-new refreshes in 2024 and 2025, respectively, and the Sierra has been going strong since 2022. This goes to show how brilliant GMC engineers and designers made these vehicles: even years after a full redesign, they still compete and are among the best.

Meet The Acadia 

The 2026 GMC Acadia has a base price of $46,440 and is available in four trim levels: Elevation, the off-road-ready AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. All models feature a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine under the hood that delivers 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission for fast, smooth shifts. Owners can use their Acadia to tow up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped. 

Welcome The Yukon XL 

Starting from $75,395, the 2026 Yukon XL is the ultimate in size and luxury for any SUV, available in Elevation, AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. Behind the third row, customers will have 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space, expanding to 93.8 with those seats folded. Folding down the second row increases that space even more to offer 144.7 cu.ft. total, the most of any non-GM SUV on sale today. Buyers can choose from three great engines, including the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8s and a 3.0-liter Duramax diesel. The 5.3 makes 355 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque, while the 6.2 makes 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The Duramax produces 305 horsepower and has a massive 495 lb-ft of torque. All engines use a 10-speed automatic transmission that delivers the perfect balance of performance and efficiency.  

The GMC Sierra 1500 

The 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 is available in 2WD and 4WD configurations with a regular cab and standard or long bed, a double cab with a standard bed, and a 4-door crew cab with a short or standard bed. Trim levels include the Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, Denali, AT4, and Denali Ultimate. Prices start at $41,095 for the regular cab with a standard-length bed.
