Is The GMC Yukon Ultimate THE Ultimate Luxury SUV?

There is no doubt that the GMC Yukon is one of the best SUVs to buy if you need something reliable, attractive, and with enough space to handle your entire life. The GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate debuted in 2023 as the answer to those looking for something less flashy than a Cadillac Escalade but with the same amount of luxury and amenities as the best luxury vehicles in the world.
Engines & Size
For 2024, the Yukon Denali Ultimate features all-wheel drive as standard and has the tried and true 6.2-liter V8 engine that has 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, or the optional Duramax 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 diesel that outputs 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission handles all power, regardless of your chosen engine. Buyers can choose between either a standard wheelbase or the longer XL model. Opting for the XL takes space behind the 3rd row from 25.5 cu.ft. to 41.5 cu.ft.

Road & Track Review
Road & Track, one of the oldest automotive magazines in America, recently reviewed the GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate and found themselves surprised at how much they enjoyed something so large in New York City. In fact, the author usually doesn’t like vehicles this big.
Road & Track talked about what made the Yukon Denali Ultimate so lovable, saying, “Despite being enormous, the Yukon feels like a much smaller vehicle. I usually hate driving full-size trucks in and around my New York City home, but this rig was easy to wheel around. It’s an imperious experience, sitting at such a high perch, enjoying the immense torque of the 6.2-liter V-8, the perfectly unhurried shifts from the 10-speed automatic, and this quiet, imminently comfortable cabin. The stress of city life melted away, aided in large part by the standard massaging seats.”

Easy To Drive
Most people who see the Denali Ultimate may think it is just some massive vehicle that intimidates everyone else on the road. Its primary goal is to provide a safe and accessible space for drivers and passengers. As Road & Track mentioned, “Everything is so well-calibrated. The steering, pedals, engine, transmission, and MagneRide dampers all work in perfect harmony to provide a cohesive driving experience. It’s remarkably comfortable for something that rides on 22-inch wheels, and the interior is also beautiful and well-trimmed with its open-pore wood.”

Price & Safety
With a base MSRP of $99,695, the 2024 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate comes standard with GMC Pro Safety Plus, which includes Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Rear Park Assist, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking, IntelliBeam auto high beams, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The Ultimate models also come with GM’s brilliant Super Cruise, one of the most advanced hands-free driver assistance technologies available.

Towing Features
Buyers expect to be able to tow pretty much anything when they buy such a large SUV, and the Yukon Denali Ultimate is no slouch. Towing capacity is 8,200 lbs for the standard Yukon, while the XL trim drops that number by 100 lbs. All Denali models come standard with great trailering features, including Smart Trailer Integration Indicator, Hitch Guidance, Hitch View, and Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert. The optional Enhanced Trailering Technology Package adds Trailer Tire Pressure and Temperature Sensors, Auxiliary Trailer Camera, Trailering assist guidelines, and Inside/Rear Trailer Camera Input.
