SuperCruise Wins MotorTrend Best Hands Free Tech Award

Super Cruise has become the standard for all hands-free driver assistance technologies, so much so that it has been awarded the 2025 MotorTrend Best Tech Award for Hands-Free Driver Assistance. Through these awards, MotorTrend recognizes manufacturers and technology companies for the safety and intuitiveness of these features that are becoming part of today’s vehicles. They do so by evaluating the feature’s innovation, user experience, usefulness, value, and ability to maintain safety and privacy for the vehicle and its driver.

How good is Super Cruise? 

If you have never experienced it before, Super Cruise helps to make your drive an easier one. This hands-free driver assistance technology utilizes cameras, sensors, GPS, and precision LIDAR map data to keep control of the vehicle. The hands-free driver assistance technology works through OnStar to ensure you are on a compatible stretch of highway to utilize it. It also factors in conditions that will optimize Super Cruise’s effectiveness.  

Overall, Super Cruise provides the freedom and confidence for the driver to take their hands off the steering wheel on stretches of select highways. MotorTrend says it does so by “keeping the car between lane lines, managing speed, and steering through curves.” 

Other features help make sure your drive is a safe and secure one through the use of available technologies. The Driver Attention System uses a camera on top of the steering column and infrared emitters built into the steering wheel. This feature scans you to ensure you are attentive behind the wheel. It also senses drowsiness and fatigue, which warns you with a message on the instrument cluster and an illuminated bar on the top of the steering wheel. MotorTrend applauded its effectiveness as part of the Super Cruise technology.
