The 2025 GMC Canyon AT4X Is an Off-Road Master
Off-road-ready pickup trucks are all the rage lately. There are more of these vehicles available than ever. Recently, a website looked at three of the top off-road pickup trucks – the 2025 GMC Canyon AT4X, 2025 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, and the 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor. While this may be a great grouping of rough and tumble pickup trucks, there are some advantages of the GMC over these two other offerings.
What makes the AT4X attractive is its capability. A strong stance comes courtesy of a set of 17-inch Black High Gloss machined aluminum wheels wearing LT285/70R17C mud-terrain tires. In turn, the AT4X gets a three-inch suspension lift and is equipped with a tough suspension using Multimatic DSSV jounce control dampers. You can also switch to Terrain, Off-Road, or Baja modes for better traction on rough surfaces. All of this makes things easier to manage anywhere you go.

The AT4X has several unique features: a set of underbody cameras to see where you are going, off-road rocker protection (key protection from debris along the cab and box), an exclusive Obsidian Rush interior trim, and heated and ventilated front seats. For practicality, you can stow items inside the MultiStow Tailgate storage system. It’s a convenient way to get the gear ready before you set off.
Underneath the Canyon AT4X’s hood is a 310-horsepower TurboMax 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission out to the standard four-wheel-drive system. This driveline has a two-speed Autotrac transfer case and front and rear electronic locking differentials. If you need it to do pickup truck tasks, the AT4X can tow up to 6,000 pounds. This beats the Ranger Raptor handily.
A good point to make is how you can fuel up the TurboMax with regular unleaded fuel, while the Ranger Raptor requires premium. That is a savings cost to take into consideration. In addition, the Canyon AT4X gets better fuel economy in the city. That’s good news for those of you who use pickup trucks solely in the Metroplex.

As for infotainment, the 11.3-inch touchscreen system is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On top of the touchscreen’s capabilities, you have access to off-road pages that show you how your truck is doing on the tougher trails. To go along with its towing capability, an In-Vehicle Trailer App enables you to handle what’s behind you like a pro.
All of this points to the excellence of the 2025 Canyon AT4X. If adventure is your game, contact us at Ewing GMC of Plano to experience one soon!
