Which GMC SUV Is Right For You

No matter what you are looking to buy, GMC has a vehicle for just about everyone. While you may think of GMC as more of a truck company because of the legendary Sierra line of trucks that are both luxurious and capable, GMC features a wide range of top SUVs.
The GMC Terrain
For buyers who need a simple, small crossover SUV that still offers loads of capability, the 2026 GMC Terrain is that vehicle. The base model Elevation trim offers front-wheel drive as standard with all-wheel drive available. The Terrain has a starting price of $32,195. The other trim levels include the AT4 and Denali, both of which are standard with AWD.
Power and Fuel Efficiency
Powering the Terrain is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that puts out 175 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque for FWD models and 203 lb-ft for AWD models. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that helps fuel economy. The EPA estimates that the FWD Terrain achieves 26 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Choosing AWD only drops the city mileage by two mpg.

More Than Entry Level
Just because the Terrain is the entry-level GMC does not mean it is entry-level in features. All trim levels come standard with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, and an 11-inch digital gauge cluster.

The GMC Acadia
Those who need a little extra space will appreciate what the three-row 2026 Acadia has to offer. Behind the third row, the Acadia has 23 cubic feet, which grows to 57.3 cu.ft. when the third row is folded and then 97.5 when both rear rows are down. The Acadia is available in Elevation, AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate, with a starting MSRP of $45,795. Every trim but the AT4 comes standard with FWD, with AWD being optional.

Power and Towing Capacity
The Acadia features a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that produces 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, mated to a smart, smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission. When properly equipped, owners can easily tow up to 5,000 lbs., which means that a family of four can tow a couple of jet skis or a boat to the lake, a camper for a great vacation, and more.
Interior Tech
The same 15-inch infotainment screen that’s in the Terrain is featured in the Acadia. People love that the system offers actual physical buttons that allow you to control simple tasks. The digital gauge cluster is configurable to your desires, and Google Built-in offers a standard suite of apps like Google Assistant and Google Maps.
The GMC Yukon and Yukon XL
If you need the absolute ultimate vehicle for size and ability, then the 2026 Yukon and Yukon XL are perfect. Starting at $72,395 for the full-size Yukon and $75,395 for the even larger XL, buyers can choose from five unique trims: Elevation, AT4, Denali, AT4 Ultimate, and Denali Ultimate. Elevation and AT4 trims can be had with either the standard 5.3-liter V8 or the optional 3.0-liter Duramax turbo diesel. The V8 offers 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, while the Duramax delivers 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. The AT4, Denali, AT4 Ultimate, and Denali Ultimate can also be purchased with the 6.2-liter V8 under the hood, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. All engines come standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Towing Abilities
Towing is also a breeze with this pair of full-size SUVs. The Yukon can tow up to 8,400 lbs., whereas the Yukon XL can tow up to 8,200 lbs. at its peak. When equipped with the available trailering package, the Yukon gets Trailer Reverse Trajectory, Transparent Trailer View, Trailer Tire Health, Jackknife Alert, and Blind Zone Steering Assist.

The GMC Hummer EV SUV

Some buyers instead want something more futuristic and zero-emissions. For those people, there is the 2026 GMC Hummer EV SUV, quite possibly the wildest of EVs on the market. The Hummer is offered in two unique trim levels: the EV2x dual-motor with 570 horsepower and the EV3x tri-motor with 1,000 horsepower. Dual-motor models can tow up to 12,000 pounds.
Loads of Cargo Space
The Hummer EV SUV also has plenty of cargo space for all your gear, with 35.9 cubic feet behind the rear seats that expand to 81.8 when the seats are folded.
Plenty of Range
When you need to recharge, you’ll be able to top up 100 miles of range from a Level 3 DC fast charger in only 12 minutes. The EV3x models have a total range of 381 miles when equipped with the available 24-module battery pack, and the 2x model has a range of 311 miles.

Super Cruise
The star of the show for buyers of the Acadia, Yukon, and Hummer is the available Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance system. With more than 750,000 miles of highways mapped between the United States and Canada, drivers can feel at ease taking their hands off the wheel and enjoy a relaxing ride to their destination while talking to passengers or chatting on the phone.
